EXCITMENT AT SAWYERS RIDGE!!!

We were very rudely awakened this morning about 5:30 AM by the sound of  a very loud Bobcat  in our back yard ..  our patio extension is being done TODAY!!!   Jim the builder had told us it would be done one day this week but didn't tell us what day OR  that  they would begin at the crack of dawn .. LOL!!! 

 Bill and Anita had told us they would like to have the sod    that they would dig up to fill in the bare spots on the hill behind their house .. and they are working on their hill as Jim and his crew are working on our patio ..

This is it for now .. they are waiting for the concrete mixer truck to show up so the patio AND this story will be a Work In Progress this morning!!!        

8:20 AM ..  the concrete truck has arrived ..  let the fun begin!!!  

While they're getting the concrete all stirred up in that big old truck I have another story to tell!!  I haven't yet  posted the pictures and told you about a really windy stormy day we had here at Sawyers Ridge a week or so ago  .. when Ken and I got home from our running around we found out that a tree had broken and fell into our attached neighbor and friend Carol's back yard ..  and the tree next to it was also bent waaayyyy over and was laying on top of that tree .. Carol called  Tim .. the main man of Sawyers Ridge about the mess .. he was on vacation in Florida but said he would take care of it when he got back .. in a week or so!!! 

 Of course Carol was not happy about the thought of that tree laying in her yard for a week and she was determined that SHE could take her Sawz-all and cut the thing up and toss it into the woods!!!

After much arguing with her .. Ken finally got her talked into letting HIM use her Sawz - all and cut the fallen tree at the base and get it out of her yard and then we were also able to pull the bent over tree off the yard too  .. and left them at the back for  Tim to take care of when he got back!!!

Why did I pop this story in the middle of today's tale?????  Because  in the middle of Jim and his crew  working on our patio .. here came some guys  to chop the bent over tree down and chop both trees up and drag them off into the woods!!!!  I told you this was an exciting day at Sawyers Ridge .. LOL!!!    Both trees are down and out of the way  and cleanup is all done ..

AND .. while the guys are working on the concrete .. and 3 more guys are working on that fallen tree .. here come the lawn guys on their mowers and with their weedeaters to take care of the mowing .. Action .. Action .. everywhere .. LOL!!!

And back to the patio .. the first load of concrete is running down the chute ..

That's Jim "the builder" with the long handled brush .. the young man with the long pipe at the side is his son Trent.  Jim is the one in charge of building all these villas .. his son Trent and son Josh work with his crew!!

Ohhhhh Nooooo .. time to cover .. rainclouds are coming in!!!

Jim and his crew came back early from lunch because blacks clouds were rolling in and they heard reports of heavy winds and rain in Desoto!!!

Rain is falling .. Jim and his crew are gone .. I'm thinking  the excitement for this project is done for today!! The heavy equipment has left a bit of a mess in our back yard and some pretty big ruts in the area between our place and Bill and Anita's but Jim has assured he will be back to fix it .. more on that and the finishing touches on the patio another day!!!  Until then .. everybody have a GREAT day!!!

                                            

Boy do  I have some catching up to do!!!   We'll start with a continuance of Tuesday ..  THE PATIO!!! 

 Wednesday .. 8:30 AM .. one of the guys is taking the boards up from around the edge ..

Now he's cleaning up .. taking the spattered concrete off the vinyl ..  Ken was worried about that and glad to see it came right off!!!

  And while we were in the basement I thought   it was time to drag out the patio table we had bought shortly after we moved into our new home  ..  it's been sitting in it's box all these many months!!!!   I wish you could have seen us putting together the table!!!    Looks like it would have been easey peasey .. and it would have been .. except the holes you needed to line up to get the bolts through didn't want to cooperate and stay in alignment .. Arrrggghhhhhh!!!!! 

We did finally get it together ..  and our patio is now starting to look like a patio instead of just a big gray rectangle of concrete!!!!  But we've got a ways to go!!! 

This area at the end of the patio will soon .. hopefully soon .. be a  bed with a Japanese Maple Tree  and flowers in it .. with Windsor blocks out around it.   Ken and I will be doing this and with the weather being so hot and muggy this is going to take a while and be done bit by bit!!!

Whoops .. time to go ..  we're going to Gini and Mike's this afternoon so I can help Gini learn some things on her laptop ..  will tell you about the next group of very interesting pictures later!!!!!
