The date is October 13, 2015 .. And what a beautiful October day this has been here in Missouri!!! The sun has been shining .. breezes blowing .. temp got up to about 73 .. great day!!! The door to the deck is open .. windows are open .. absolutely beautiful!!! A beautiful day for painting the foundation of the house!!!
We were not at all happy with the way the outside basement walls look on our new home here at Sawyers Ridge. Our next door neighbors and friends, Bill and Anita James, were not happy with that look either .. so one day as we were sitting in the door of their garage visiting with them we discussed painting the foundation and all came to the conclusion that this just might be a great idea!!!
Bill was the first one to get his rear in gear .. he painted the area at the back of their house and wasn't sure if he should paint the area along the side or not. Ken used his power washer the other day and hosed down the basement wall / foundation on both houses and the next day Bill and Anita got busy and painted the rest of their wall.
Today was such a gorgeous day we decided it was a wonderful day for us to stay home and get ours painted ..
I started painting the side wall while Ken painted the trim .. it wasn't long before Bill and Anita got in on the action ..
What good neighbors these people are!!! It didn't take any time at all to finish up with FOUR people working at it!!! Anita was such a whiz at it she even managed to get a second coat put on while the rest of us were working with brushes doing the trim and recovering holes and places where the roller missed!!!
Ken doing the clean-up ...
You have to admit this looks sooooooo much better!!!!
Just a bit more .. I don't think I ever posted that we finally got our new cabinet doors .. and got the hardware put on the cabinets!!! These weren't on the list I posted because Tim and Jim weren't responsible for these .. the cabinets came from Hopkins Furniture and Carpet and Steve was the responsible one!!! As it turned out Steve and Hopkins Furniture and Carpet were also the ones responsible for the fireplace .. so Steve has taken care of the things on his list!!!
As you can see there is not a lot of cabinet space .. we are looking for a vintage cabinet to put at the end of the long wall of cabinets where the wooden waste basket holder is sitting .. a pie safe would be wonderful!!!
We went on a "treasure hunt" Friday and found this cabinet at the "Old Time Flea Market" in Farmington. I was very tempted to buy it but Ken measured the back of our vehicle and it is too long to fit .. even if we take the thing at the top off it is too long .. and they don't deliver!! I am going to call them in the morning and see if they still have it and if they do we will be borrowing Mike and Madonna's van and making a trip to Farmington to purchase it!!!
I really really really hope it is still there .. I will let you know!!!

You all did such a great job painting the foundation of your home. Yes, It looks so much better --- I liked the pic of your kitchen and I could see part of the rest of your house too !! The pie safe that you like is very nice ! I am glad you have nice neighbors !
