CHAPTER ELEVEN .. WHAT A MESS!!!!!!

We had a meeting this morning at Sawyer's Ridge with Tim, Ashley and Jim .. Tim is the owner of  Sawyer's Ridge I guess you could say .. Ashley is his daughter and works for him and is also a realtor .. Jim is the builder .. the guys working on the Villas are his employees.  I need to get a picture of Tim for you because he looks like a cross between Conway Twitty and Blake Shelton .. no kidding!!!   The meeting went well .. they are ordering windows with the grids in them .. since the windows are double hung they will be able to take the windows out of the frames in the new windows and switch them with the windows in the ones they have already installed.   They are also ordering a set of snap-in grids for the double doors going out to the deck.  However nothing could be done about the fact that the door opens from the right and I wanted it to open from the center .. but I can live with that!!!  We went over several other things that we had asked to have upgrades for and Tim assured us all would be taken care of.  All in all the meeting went very well.  

The builders were working on the house so I just snapped a couple of pics before we left .. it has been doing a lot of raining so the vinyl siding is at a standstill .. they are now working inside .. wiring .. insulation .. wallboard ..

Of course as we were driving off we were planning to come back after the guys were done working for the day so we could get a better look at what all hey had accomplished!!!  So we were off to the Bread Company in South County .. Coffee and yakking with "the Bunch" .. LOL!!!  Then we were off .. hunting .. looking for a smaller table and 4 chairs for the breakfast area of the kitchen.  Not sure exactly what we want yet but it's fun looAll this ruking .. LOL!!!  Trying to think where all we went .. looking for other "treasures" too of course!!  Hmmmm .. J C Penny's Furniture Store .. someone said they had "country" type furniture .. we found a round table and 4 chairs that we "kinda" liked but the price tag was a bit much .. over $1600 for the set .. I don't think so!!!  A store called Tuesday Morning .. 2 resale shops that I can't remember the names of .. Garden  Ridge .. but it has a new name now .. Value Village .. and last but not least .. the Goodwill in Arnold .. we did not buy one single thing in any of these stores!!!!  We also stopped at an "Ice Cream" place across fro Value Village .. decided this would be our lunch .. it's actually frozen yogurt .. you run your own "Ice Cream" flavor into a bowl .. all kinds of stuff to choose from for toppings .. I chose little pieces of Cheesecake to put on mine .. a little Hot Fudge and a little Caramel and of course Whipped Cream .. you then set it on the scales and they charge by the ounce .. 49 cents and ounce I think it was!!  Total was a little over $9.00 so I guess we must each have had around 10 ounces of delicious frozen Yogurt Sundae!!!!  All this running around and a brief run to Schnuck's to get a few groceries kept us busy long enough that by the time we got back to Festus and Sawyer's Ridge the builders were gone .. meaning we could snoop around and get some pics .. Yayyyyyyyy!!!!

The garage door was shut and so was our front door .. so of course we had to make it through that mud to get to the back to see if there was a way to get in ..

 Believe it or not we DID make it through the mud and were very happy to discover the walk-out door to the basement was not closed!!! And WOW were we surprised at what we saw inside!!!

 Another pic in the Master Bath .. we thought they were putting a tall cabinet in beside the bathroom sink but they are actually building a linen closet .. that was a nice surprise!!!! 

Look what Ken found .. the fireplace!!!  I hadn't even noticed they had it in until he pointed it out!!!!  It will have a brick hearth and be surrounded by brick with a wooden mantle!!

The area on the left side of the brown pole you see in the picture will be the TV / Family Room ..  the area to the right will be Ken's work shop ..

 The french doors out to the patio .. my oh my .. the patio is certainly a mess!!! 

The Bathroom will be where the white pipes coming out of the floor are .. 

And the storage area will be in the big area to the right of the Bathroom.  Furnace and Water Heater will be over there somewhere also. 

Back outside to the MUD .. notice the board Ken put down for a "bridge"!!!  I was able to make my way through a narrow dry path over that far but right by that ladder it got very very muddy and soft .. my sweetheart built a bridge so I could get to the house for a tour too!!!

 

This is it for now .. needing some sun to dry up all that mud .. but at least the rain doesn't keep them from being able to get things done .. so much has been accomplished in such a short time!!!!  

BTW .. we haven't heard yet how the inspection came out .. expecting to hear from Lori .. or somebody .. tomorrow!!!
